In Sally Betteridge's 3rd year she became Literacy coordinator and Advanced Skills Teacher in Literacy and Thinking through Philosophy. Sally Betteridge then worked as an Advanced Skills Teacher for an Education partnership in St Ann's in Nottingham City, working in 8 Primary schools improving the Creative teaching of Literacy through oracy, drama, film, music and movement, providing model lessons, staff training, planning and resources. Sally Betteridge then worked across Nottingham City and individual schools in Nottinghamshire, providing training, modelling lessons and working with staff on planning for Creative approaches to Literacy. Sally Betteridge has worked with a number of schools to rewrite their curriculum for a thematic and creative approach. Sally Betteridge has delivered many INSET days in Creative Literacy, oracy, reading and Philosophy for children in schools in Nottingham City, Nottinghamshire, Derby and Derbyshire. Following this Sally Betteridge worked at the University of Nottingham on the Teach First and School Direct programme as a University Tutor. Sally Betteridge then became course leader for our new Primary PGCE course, which she designed and created with a team of academics. Sally Betteridge also lectured across the PGCE courses in Primary English teaching. Whilst working at the Uni, Sally Betteridge continued to consult in schools, providing training and school improvement in English and curriculum development. Sally Betteridge has also been involved in research in Reading across schools in a trust in the midlands where she provided a professional development programme and set up teacher research projects. Sally Betteridge was also part of the Teachers as Readers research with the Open University. For her masters, Sally Betteridge did research into the impact of creative curriculum change on staff. Sally Betteridge is passionate about the teaching of English and oracy and thinking skills in children's education. Sally Betteridge is an avid reader of children's fiction and want to spread the joy and importance of children reading and the importance of teachers being readers. Sally Betteridge worked in the UAE as English Lead in a British Curriculum international school.
